After weeks of annoying my postman, my mission call finally arrived on the 2nd of April 2014! I called my parents and they came straight from work, then called my best friend and told her to drop everything and jet pack to my house with her parents, which she did because she's a superhero ya know.
After calling and skpying a bajillion people, and waiting for the pizza to arrive, for fear the delivery man would ring the doorbell as I said "assigned to labour in the ...", we finally got down to business.
My dad was extremely excited (as you can hear) because he served in the Hartford Connecticut Mission 26 years ago, which is now covered by the Massachusetts Boston Mission. We're both hoping that I'll get to meet some of the people he taught on his mission.
Dear Sister Barrett,
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You are assigned to labour in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months. You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Tuesday July 15th 2014.
